  wow, now this is interesting.. in another interview with his longtime atheist friend, eugenio scalfari, pope francis claims that hell does not exist and that condemned souls just "disappear.

  hey guys!

  i just want you guys to know that today is a really great day.

  there are so many jehovah's witnesses that saw this documentary and were disgusted by watchtowers policy.

  Christian, there are over 36.29 million (2016) Canadians. I would be curious what percentage tuned in and what percentage were active JW's? "There are so many Jehovah's witnesses that saw this documentary and were disgusted by Watchtowers policy". If you are DF'd how do you know this? I'm not criticizing, I am sincerely wondering.

  Lloyd Evans' New Book - Is It Really Necessary?

  so lloyd evans will shortly be releasing his new book how to leave the jehovah's witnesses.

  i do enjoy his rebuttals and the stuff he manages to get hold of and leak.

  but i'm struggling to understand what he could possibly write to merit a whole book.. all info on how to leave is right here on this forum.

  Lloyd is certainly eloquent but if the book is "How to Leave..." I've already done that so I wouldn't read it anyhow. If someone wants to buy it, so be it.

  it was 2010 when i first came to this website.

  it was the day after the memorial.

  i swore i would never attend another memorial, ever.. my father had called me a few day prior to that memorial and encouraged me to go.

  Some people are born to misfortune, a crippling birth defect perhaps. A limb malformed, a speech impediment can severely effect their quality of life. Being born a JW is also a misfortune that can cripple a person's spirit and outlook on life. The thing about the JW misfortune is that more often than not one can overcome the disability and live a relatively normal life. Sadly, its one where everyone else is damaged and choose to stay that way. You are fortunate to have gotten out so young. Enjoy your life. I hope that in some way I am among those who had a positive effect on your escape. Sorry about grandma.

  Memorial.. To go or not to go

  so, as some of you will know myself and my husband are in the process of fading.

  haven't been to a meeting since beginning of 2017. .

  we weren't planning on going to the memorial, but last week my mother broke down and said that we have to go to the memorial even if it's the only meeting i go to this year.

  Transferring Congregations

  what is included in the publisher cards and other information when you transfer from one congregation to another?

  i was privately reproved and may be moving to a congregation where there are brothers i rather not know why i was privately reproved.

  is the fact i was privately reproved visible but not the reason why?

  The elders will do as they please. We had a family movie in and the wife was outed in the letter sent with them for having a big mouth, a gossip. Even though she was never reproved for it, that was in there. Don't count on a clean escape. Anyone hate you? They will totally trash you.

  Everyone has something that they become preoccupied by. It was WT and now its politics, painting, drinking, entertainment or even religion part two. Find something you like and ignore the JDrubs. Keep it simple.

  What is this "religion"?

  for a long time, i was convinced jehovah witnesses were just people preaching the word of god in a different way than other christians.

  i was shown the real truth over the past few months.

  i've been friends with this guy for over 5 years.

  so on the jw broadcast channel, there is a new 4 minute video entitled "why does god permit suffering".

  i won't give them free advertising by linking to it, but you'll find it under the "latest videos" section.. it looks like it will be something that will eventually be used in field serve-us as a video to show householders.. anyway, it gives the illustration of the teacher and a "rebellious student" who says he has a "better way to solve the problem".

  the infinitely wise teacher allows him to try, he fails, and the teacher is "vindicated".. other posts on this site demonstrate how inane the illustration really is - it breaks down nearly effortlessly.. anyway, the video goes on to explain that god allowed "rebellious humans" to continue on because (more or less direct quote) "millions of angels were observing.

  I think you got it right. As soon as I learned that this teaching was after Russell and concocted by the "Judge" it became rather suspicious to me that a legalistic, lawyers mind was behind it. If he had been a baker it would have been the "bakers oven" issue of "universal bread pans". Something like that. Just couldn't buy it at that point.
